Primary sports clubs have been created to increase physical activity levels in less active seven to nine-year-olds through multi-sport themes.
School Games Organisers (SGOs) have been tasked with delivering these clubs locally. The clubs strive to create an exciting and inspirational environment for children to engage in school sport. Over time the clubs will ensure that they take part in lifelong sport and physical activity, thus reducing the risk of chronic disease in later life.
Change4Life is utilised in two ways at Martley CE Primary School. Our Young Leaders promote these activities twice a week during lunchtimes, and secondly a cluster of schools meet after school at The Chantry.
The after school clubs are led by The Chantry Young Leaders. The sporting events change every term or half term depending on the Young Leaders. Tennis, cricket, cheer leading, rounders, athletics, netball, rugby and football are just a few of the sports the primary school children have had the opportunity to play. They really enjoy meeting other children and being taught by The Chantry Young Leaders. This has helped develop their social, physical and mental skills as well as being just pure fun!
