What have you given up for Lent? This is normally the first question asked. This got Reverend Sherwin, along with the children at Martley CE Primary School thinking. They then decided that instead of giving up something for Lent, they would give away something to people who were less fortunate.
The School Council gathered together to create a flyer to advertise the event. Search engines were used to find Worcester Food Bank and to research which items would be required by the centres. Listing these on the flyer would enable the school to collect the appropriate items. The flyer was then distributed to parents via Class Dojo and placed around the school. Due to poor weather conditions and half term the School Council decided to extend the date. Once again they were surprised by the communities great support to their cause.
Mr Roy Walford, who works with the food banks whilst volunteering for many other things, kindly collected the food from Martley CE Primary School.
The School Council feel this shouldn’t just be a once a year event and plan to help raise food in the future.
