The Bumba Jig visits Martley!

IMG_7174Monday 17th July 2017 was an extremely lucky day for Martley as we had a very special visitor – Cat Weatherill.

Ms Weatherill is a very talented storyteller and author who came to share a very special book called The Bumba Jig written by Cheran ‘Cherie’ Brach.

KS2 (Oak, Rowan and Willow) shared an exciting assembly during which Ms Weatherill demonstrated her storytelling skills.

As soon as assembly was over Ms Weatherill entertained Maple Class, dramatising and telling the story of The Bumpa Jig. The children really loved acting out all the animals in the book. Cat Weatherill has been commissioned by The Cherry Foundation to take this book into schools across the West Midlands area.

The Cherry Foundation was set up in January 2017 by Cheran Brach’s family in memory of her, who unfortunately died on Christmas Day 2016. Cheran was an ‘outstanding’ teacher and Assistant Head at Hydesville Tower School and dedicated her first and only book to the children in her class.

Many thanks for all the fun, laughter and inspiration you have given Martley Ms Weatherill.
