As part of the RE curriculum, Martley CE Primary School learn about different faiths which helps support their respect to those of different beliefs. In May 2018 Years 4, 5 and 6 visited Central Jamia Mosque Ghamkol Sharif (CJMGS) and the Islamic Experience Exhibition in Birmingham.
Before the children could enter the mosque they learnt that they must wear appropriate clothing and must cover their hair, knees and take their footwear off before entering the prayer rooms. They found the building very interesting and much bigger than they thought it would be from photos they had been studying in the classroom.
The children then visited the Islamic Experience Exhibition to enhance their studies on Islam, concentrating on the topic areas of Faith & History, The Five Pillars, Family Life, Islam & Science and Activities.
