What does SEND mean?
SEND stands for Special Educational Need or Disability.
At Martley CE Primary we strive to be a fully inclusive school where all pupils achieve their potential. For any child with additional needs we aim to identity barriers to learning and provide the support needed to ensure they make good progress. All schools are required to publish a Special Educational Needs or Disabilities information Report which outlines the support we provide for all pupils, including those with SEND.
What to do if you have concerns about your child?
Being a parent or carer and having the pressure of ‘getting it right’ for your child, can be quite stressful. So if you have any concerns, no matter how small they may be, please contact us. Your first point of call should be your child’s teacher, either ask for a meeting, or send a message via Class Dojo – or they will be there at the end of the day to dismiss the class.
Cath Mabbort, our highly qualified SENCO Leader [(BA (Hons) with QTS, PGCert (National Award for SEN Coordination), Diploma (Teaching Learners with Dyslexia/Specific Learning Difficulties) and MA (SEN)], can also be contacted (email: clm108
At Martley we do have an open door policy and are always happy to hear from all our parents or carers. Please read our policies, offer and other official documentation as these will help shed some light on a very complex subject. The four areas of SEND, referred to in the SEND Code of Practice, can be found below, click on these to view more helpful websites.
Our SEND Information Report outline the following:
• The support available to all children with SEND at Martley CE Primary School
• The targeted support which is available for children with SEND who require additional short term support which is over and above that which we routinely provide (Ordinarily available) in our school
• The specialist outside agency support which is available for children with SEND who require specialised, often longer term support
